Peg Lemine's Story

Adoption Services

Peggy was my first adoption reunion customer. She hired me to locate her three missing siblings: James David, Ruth Ann, and Raymond.

It took two months of searching, but I was able to locate a former address for James David and spoke to his ex-wife. She directed me to where I could locate him.

So I stepped into the Delhi House, a small neighborhood bar, in suburban Cincinnati. I approached the barmaid, who stated that she knew James David. She left the bar and ran over to his apartment. Fifteen minutes later, he was sitting next to me in the bar. I asked him to confirm some information, and he asked to verify some information that he had. Shortly after that he was on the phone with his sister, Peggy.

My next duty was to locate Ruth Ann Blanton. She was going to be a little harder to locate. I contacted the Hamilton County Probate Court, but her adoption records were sealed. I took the next step and

Nancy Kanaga's Story

Adoption Services

In the process of attempting to locate Ruth Ann Blanton (on behalf of Peggy Lemine), I made contact with Nancy Kanaga-Mickel.

About two weeks ago, Nancy contacted me to locate her birthmother. She knew her first name from birth. It was Renee. I was able to locate one Renee, a Renee M. Chevalley, on the Ohio birth index. Using a nationwide database, I ran a search on the last name Chevalley and was able to locate four families in the state of Ohio. On Wednesday, June 3, 1998, I mailed certified letters to the addresses that I had located. I had found Nancy's birth-grandparents. They notified Nancy's birthmother, who in turn contacted me.

On Friday June 5, 1998, I spoke with Nancy's birthmother, Cheryl "Cheri" (Chevalley) Wesley. She advised me that she was currently married and has three children, two daughters and a son. She gave me permission to release her name, address, and phone number to Nancy. On Saturday, June 6, 1998, Nancy spoke with her birthmother for the first time.

Here is an except from her e-mail detailing the experience:

"She was wonderful...great sense of humor...she sounds like me.... It is so weird to find that we have led parallel lives...she grew up one mile from where I live now...she got pregnant summer after graduation...boy didn't want to commit and parents forced her

Karen Campbell's Story

Adoption Services

I was hired by Karen to locate her birthparents. In the time that I was conducting the investigation on her behalf, she came upon some information about her birthmother accidentally. Through that information, she was able to contact and then met her birthmother directly. Karen's birthmother provided Karen with her birthfather's name. It took forty-eight hours to locate Karen's birthfather. She has since spoken to him on the telephone. Her statement follows:

"I know a reputable PI with very reasonable rates. He helped me find my birthfather cheaper and faster than the PI that my adoption agency uses. His name is Mike Rolfes and he has been instrumental in reuniting adoptees in the past. Maybe he can help. Explain your financial situation and I am sure he can help you work something out. Good Luck to you. Karen (Reunited Adoptee) Bmom 9/30/98 Bdad 10/11/98"

Additionally, Karen informs me that she has inherited the following family:

"Renee (25) Adopted; Eugene P (24) half brother birthfather; Michael (21) half brother birthmother; Robert (20) half brother birthmother; Rocco (20) Adopted; Marissa (18) half sister birthfather; Kristin (16) half sister birthfather."

Jacque Treuheit's Story - December 21, 1998

Adoption Services

I was hired to locate Jacque's birthfamily in case she needed a bone marrow transplant.  She has been diagnosed with cancer that is currently in remission.  Within
48 hours of obtaining her original birth certificate and adoption file, I had located Jacque's half-sister, her aunt, and found out, unfortunately, that her birthmother had
passed away in 1980 from brain cancer.  However, I also discovered that she has three half-brothers from her birthmother's second marriage.

Here's the e-mails that Jacque has sent me since I located her birth family:

     "Dear Mike:

What can I say...you are the greatest! My sister, Terri, wants to do the
Discovery channel thing, but I KNOW my adoptive family would have an absolute
FIT about it. My whole life, we were not allowed to tell anyone we were
adopted, so all my parents friends think we belong to them. I have to protect

Bethany's Story & Celebration of Her Life Born: November 15, 1979

Bethany Harris

Returned to our Lord, October 21, 2002

As fate would have it, I met Bethany during an online chat in 2000. While chatting with her, she informed me that she was an adoptee and was searching for her birthmother because she was going to have to have major brain surgery. The doctors did not know if she would survive the surgery. I stepped in and offered my services to Bethany at no cost.

After a week of searching, I was finally able to locate her birthmother in the Colorado area. Turns out that Bethany had two teenage, half sisters also. She was able to speak to her birthmother and half sisters before she underwent the surgery.

Well, it turns out that Bethany survived the surgery, but had some pitfalls due to over-medication after the surgery. After being weaned from Oxycontin in 2001-2002, her life continued to improve, but she battled daily migraine headaches - a side effect of her medical condition that lead to the surgery.
